Kwikset launches HomeKit-compatible Premis smart lock in new modern design

Kwikset has released an update to its HomeKit-compatible Premis smart lock, launching the product in a new contemporary finish after being shown off during CES earlier this year.
The newly released smart lock features the same internal technology as the Premis “Traditional” model, though the update includes a refreshed design and a touch screen that can be programmed with up to 30 unique codes, the ability to see a detail lock history of who locked/unlocked the door when and how, and offers the ability to send push notifications regarding the lock’s status.
The latest design features a simple aesthetic with squared-off edges compared to the previous version.
With full HomeKit integration, users can use Siri voice control to check lock history; remote access to monitor, lock, and unlock from anywhere using the Kwikset Premis iOS app and Apple TV (4th generation or newer) or HomePod.
HomeKit means users can ask Siri, “Hey Siri, lock the front door.”, “Siri, is the back door locked?”, and “Hey Siri, did I lock the house?”.
The new Kwikset Premis smart lock is priced at $300 on Amazon, with shipping estimates for the black model showing as between 1-3 weeks, and the silver 1-3 months. The “Traditional” model, which can do everything the new model can do, is priced at $161 for the silver version.
