Apple readying Taiwan’s second Apple Store in Xinyi district of Taipei
Apple appears to be readying for the grand unveiling of its second retail store in Taiwan, with graphics appearing overnight on the construction hoarding outside its newly built location in the Xinyi district of Taipei.
The graphics display a play on the word “Taipei” in Mandarin, with the Apple logo inserted into the first character. The slogan on the new store facade says “Creativity starts here, Apple Xinyi A13.”
Apple is opening the new store within 15 minutes’ walking distance of its first Taiwanese retail location at the Taipei 101 mall within the iconic skyscraper previously known as the Taipei World Financial Centre. The store opened in July 2017, and Apple has reportedly said the opening of the second store won’t interfere the operation of Apple Taipei 101.
The design of the new store is still under-wraps, though from the outside it appears the location is a single-story store, but likely conceals interior staircases leading down to an underground floor. Similar to Apple’s store in Chicago, Michigan, the location features a thin carbon fiber roof held up by two stone pillars and a curved floor-to-ceiling glass facade.
