Apple swapping some faulty Apple Watch Series 3 models with new Series 4 replacements due to part constraints
Apple is reportedly swapping some faulty Apple Watch Series 3 models with newer Series 4 replacements, according to 9to5Mac who claim Apple has sent a memo to Apple retail stores and Apple’s network of Authorized Service Providers advising them of the change.
A similar replacement program was reported earlier this month, with Apple authorizing engineers to replace defective Apple Watch Series 2 models with newer Series 3 replacements.
The temporary upgrades appear to be due to a shortage of replacement components for the Apple Watch Series 3. Rather than keeping customers waiting until it overcomes its supply constraints, Apple has chosen to offer full Apple Watch replacements until further notice.
Customers with faulty watches can visit an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider to discuss their options. Not all locations will be offering device upgrades as it depends on that individual locations component stock level.
