How to participate in the Apple Watch Earth Day Activity Challenge
Apple has kicked off its annual Earth Day Activity Challenge for Apple Watch users, rewarding those who record a Workout lasting 30 minutes or more with a special achievement badge in the Activity app and an accompanying iMessage sticker to be shared in Messages.
The challenge is open today only (April 22nd) and can be completed by finishing any watchOS workout.
How to record a Workout on Apple Watch
- Open the Workouts app on your Apple Watch and tap the type of exercise you’re about to do – you can choose from 11 pre-set workout types
- After tapping your chosen exercise, your Apple Watch will do a 3 second countdown and begin recording your workout
- You’ll see the Workouts app show the progress of your workout, including metrics such as the amount of calories burnt, your heart rate and the length of time you’ve been active
When you’ve finished your 30 minute exercise, end your Workout (here’s how to pause and end a Workout on Apple Watch) and await your award! – Apple notes these rewards could take 9 days to appear in the app, although rewards usually show instantly in the Activity app on iPhone.
Today’s special Earth Day challenge is the second Activity Challenge held by Apple this year, with the company celebrating International Women’s Day in March and Heart Month in February. Unlike some previous challenges, Apple has opened this competition to all Apple Watch wearers globally.
