Tim Cook says Apple is working on new products that will ‘blow you away’
At an annual meeting with investors this morning at Apple Park, Apple CEO Tim Cook has said the company is “rolling the dice” on some future products that will “blow you away.”, sharing some small tidbits on Apple’s future product plans.
As outlined by Bloomberg, Cook has said Apple’s goal is to be able to reduce the price of the 2018 Retina MacBook Air, which currently starts at $1,200 and to continue work on its “long, great roadmap” of “fantastic” products which are on the horizon.
Cook said Apple is well on its way towards meeting the goal it set in 2016, which was to double its $25 billion service revenue by 2020. – Reports have suggested Apple will introduce two new paid subscription services this year, including a Netflix-like subscription service and new paid-access Apple News content, both likely to be announced at a media event later this month.
Alongside new subscription services Apple is also expected to launch new hardware in March, including an upgraded version of AirPods, dubbed AirPods 2, two new iPad models and AirPower, Apple’s long-awaited wireless charging mat.
Cook continued the meeting with talk of Apple’s call for regulation against tech companies like Facebook and Google that build data profiles of their users as well as Apple’s political ideology and plea for new U.S. privacy laws to protect citizens, such as the GDPR rules rolled out across Europe in 2018.
