FaceTime bug lets you hear someone else’s conversation even if they don’t answer
A FaceTime bug has been revealed and is blowing up on social media. In what appears to be one of Apple’s biggest bugs to date, it allows users to hear the audio coming from the other persons phone before that person has accepted or rejected the call. What makes the situation worse is that if the call recipient pushes the volume or power buttons while the call is ringing it will broadcast video in addition to the audio.
The bug appears to affect any pair of iOS devices running iOS 12.1 or later. Currently Apple’s server status page reveals that “Group FaceTime is temporarily unavailable” so it’s possible Apple is trying to mitigate the issue.
Apple has responded saying that they are “aware of this issue and have identified a fix that will be released in a software update later this week.” Until that software update is released though, it is recommended that users disable FaceTime in settings.
