First Alert launches second-gen, HomeKit-compatible Onelink Smart Smoke + Carbon Monoxide Alarm
First Alert have released a second-generation HomeKit-compatible Onelink Smart Smoke + Carbon Monoxide alarm, offering users emergency notifications, interconnectivity with other compatible alarms, and more.
The 2-in-1 alarm is First Alert’s entry-level smart alarm, the little sister to the more feature filled Onelink Safe & Sound alarm. Introduced at the beginning of December, the second-gen Onelink Smart Smoke + Carbon Monoxide alarm includes a 10-year sealed battery backup for protection in power outages, and voice alerts to those inside the property when the alarm detects danger.
With this being a HomeKit-compatible alarm, iOS users can create custom emergency automations – for example, a user could create an automation that unlocks their smart locks and turns on the lights when either a smoke or carbon monoxide trace is detected.
As shown within a video shared by First Alert, users can place Onelink alarms around their home and connect them to one another, allowing the Onelink system to provide detailed notifications as to where exactly the warning, either it be smoke or carbon monoxide, has been detected through a Bluetooth mesh network.
As well as HomeKit, the new Onelink Smart Smoke + Carbon Monoxide alarm is compatible with Amazon Alexa, available now to customers in the United States for $115.46 for the battery operated model, and $119.99 for the hardwired version on Amazon.
