Get ready for new AirPods – Filings show new models are on the horizon
Model numbers uncovered within the Bluetooth Special Interest Group’s regulatory database at the beginning of November suggest Apple is readying a new, upgraded version of AirPods possibly launching later in the year.
The listing shows model numbers A2031 and A2032, which seem to correspond to a left AirPod and a right AirPod are listed as hardware version number REV1.1, similar to REV1.0 which is Apple’s version number for the current generation AirPods.
Apple is yet to release its wireless charging case for AirPods which was first previewed last September alongside the introduction of AirPower. Although unconfirmed, if next-generation AirPods were to launch later this year then Apple may choose to release the upgraded wireless charging case alongside it, which would make perfect sense.
The listings, first uncovered by MySmartPrice, don’t share any information about the features the new AirPods will bring; however, the new earphones are expected to bring “Hey Siri” support and well as an improved battery and enhanced microphones.
