Apple releasing iOS 12.1 today with Group FaceTime, new emoji, eSIM support and more
Apple has confirmed that iOS 12.1 will be available to download on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch later today, bringing an array of new features including Group FaceTime, more than 70 new emoji characters, eSIM support and more.
The update will see live Depth Control for the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR, allowing users to adjust bokeh blur of Portrait mode pictures, and much more in real time, as well as adding emoji characters, such as cold face, woozy face, hot face, red hair, white hair, leg, foot, teddy bear, llama, raccoon, kangaroo, mango, cupcake, bagel, and tons more. – You can see all of Apple’s new emoji characters here.
As reported by The Apple Post on Sunday, iOS 12.1 will bring eSIM support to the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR, allowing users to have two separate telephone numbers and data plans connected to their device; for example: one number for business and another number for personal calls.
One of the most highly anticipated features coming with iOS 12.1 is Group FaceTime, allowing iPhone and iPad users to make FaceTime audio and video calls simultaneously with 32 people at once. Apple has announced that older iPhone and iPad hardware with an A8 chip or earlier, such as the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus won’t be able to use the Group FaceTime video calling feature.
