Apple employees claim company testing Italian language support for HomePod
Apple is internally testing Italian language support for HomePod according to reports from numerous Apple employees who claim to be part of a secret testing program, with the company expected to announce HomePod availability in Italy during its ‘There’s more in the making.’ event on October 30th.
According to local blog Saggiamente, Apple has been holding short week-long test sessions with Italian employees to test how well HomePod responds to requests made by users speaking the Italian language.
Asides from Spanish language support which arrived alongside the release of HomePod in Spain and Mexico on Friday, so far HomePod has only supported different variations of English. – The pre-release version of Siri on HomePod in Italy already can recognise requests in Italian relating to songs with titles or authors of different nationalities, and presumably much more.
Before its public debut Apple will no doubt be wanting to ensure HomePod works perfectly, so it comes as no surprise that internal testing is underway. Way back last year before HomePod was released to the public leaked images showed a HomePod speaker in China, a country that still a year later doesn’t sell HomePod.
