Apple planning to release AirPower in late 2018/early 2019 according to analyst
Within a research note published on Tuesday that mentioned the possibility of Apple launching an updated iPad mini next week at its October event, renowned industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has shared his predictions on when we can expect Apple to release AirPower, and the new wireless charging case for AirPods.
According to Kuo, Apple is planning on releasing AirPower during the fourth quarter of 2018, or failing that, early in the first quarter of 2019. If Apple were to stick to their original promise of releasing the product by the end of the year then it would appear engineers have been able to overcome the heating issues which are believed to be behind the delayed launch of the accessory.
Many, including myself, lost faith in Apple and believed the AirPower project had been scrapped following no mention of the charging mat during the company’s September iPhone launch, and especially when all mentioning of AirPower was removed from Apple.com.
When AirPower arrives, users will be able to charge up to three devices at once. When users have multiple devices charging at the same time, AirPower will ‘communicate’ between each device and intelligently decide on how much power each device requires.
