iOS 12 beta 12 released to stop annoying popup
Most beta testers by now are very familiar with the “A new iOS update is now available. Please update from the iOS 12 beta” message parenting on their device every few minutes. Don’t worry though, Apple has released a new seed to take care of that.
Recently anytime the device was unlocked or the notification center was puled down the device would prompt the user to upgrade the the latest beta. That great except there wasn’t another beta to upgrade to. iOS 12 beta 12 is now available to developers and public beta testers can now upgrade to iOS 12 public beta 10 in the settings app.
Guilherme Rambo posted his discovery on Twitter stating that beta 11 thought it was about to expire. In response the software started a string of notifications to alert the user.
It looks like this method in Springboard does some date/time calculations to determine if the current build is about to expire, every time the cover sheet gets dismissed. For some reason, the latest builds of iOS 12 think they’re about to expire. (@davedelong :P) pic.twitter.com/HWe7C0NnIT
