Icon found within iOS 12 beta shows iPad with thin bezels, no Home button or notch
Rumors have long suggested Apple will redesign the iPad Pro to match the design of the iPhone X, and new icons found within iOS 12 beta 5 seemingly confirm a new bezel-less iPad will be launching later in the year.
The new asset part of the battery usage UI shows an iPad with no home button and thin bezels. Although the icons don’t confirm Face ID will arrive onto the iPad, it does suggest the new models won’t have room for a Touch ID fingerprint reader, suggesting that Face ID will be the tablet’s main authentication method.
Interestingly, unlike the iPhone X the icon suggests the new iPad model won’t have a notch, formally known as the True Depth Camera System, meaning which orientation the iPad is in a won’t be there to spoil the experience.
Apart from the addition of Face ID, Apple will reportedly be making a handful of other key changes to their upcoming iPad Pro models, including the removal of the headphone jack and a relocated Smart Connector according to Japanese site MacOtakara.
