Phillips introduce ‘completely weatherproof’ outdoor Hue LightStrip
Phillips have unveiled a new ‘completely weatherproof’ outdoor Hue LightStrip online through the Philips’ Netherlands website, revealing a 2m (6.56 ft.) and 5m (16.4 ft.) HomeKit controlled LightStrip with the power to illuminate 16 million customizable color hues.
As shared by HomeKit News, Phillips claims their new LightStrip is “completely weatherproof.”, going on to say “The LightStrip can withstand small puddles and water jets from any direction, so do not worry if rain is unexpectedly predicted.”.
Unlike the existing indoor LightStrip, the new outdoor product uses a flexible diffuse light that Phillips claims works for both direct and indirect lighting situations. The product includes clips and screws that allow users to easily attach the product to their wall, ceiling, or fence.
With HomeKit integration, like other Phillips Hue products customers can control their LightStrip from around the world with HomeKit. Voice commands such as “Hey Siri, turn on the outdoor lights” can quickly illuminate any chosen area, and custom scenes can be created to allow the lights to automatically turn on when a approached from a specific radius, for example.
The new outdoor Phillips Hue LightStrip is currently available exclusively in the Netherlands. It’s unclear when Philips plans to expand availability for the accessory across the world, however; reports have suggested the product will go live towards the end of August.
