Siri may have revealed plans for new HomePod at WWDC

Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is only a couple of weeks away, and with anticipation growing for the event Siri may have revealed plans for a new HomePod, adding fuel to reports that claim Apple is preparing to launch a low-cost smart speaker to further compete with the Amazon Echo and Google Home.
As discovered by The Apple Post on Monday, when users ask “Hey Siri. Tell me about WWDC” the assistant responds with a couple of different answers, however, the most interesting is when the reply implies of a new “meshey & matte” home for Siri.
“I’m gonna have a shiny new home” hints at new hardware, and the mention of mesh implies the new home for Siri will be some form of HomePod speaker.
Apple will take to the stage on Monday June 4th to unveil iOS 12 along with newer versions of watchOS, tvOS and macOS 10.14. It’s been previously reported iOS 12 will likely focus on stability, performance and reliability of the software instead of adding a large amount of new features. – As always Siri will most likely gain new capabilities, and many speculate Siri’s functions on HomePod will dramatically evolve from the limited functionality available now.
While a new HomePod appears to be on the horizon, the hint by Siri doesn’t necessarily mean this is the case. Nothing is set in stone until Apple takes to the stage… although, this juicy discovery does get you wondering.
