Apple in discussions to unblock FaceTime in United Arab Emirates
Apple is apparently in active negotiations with the UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) to unblock FaceTime, as well as other Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services like Whatsapp and Viber, in the UAE and several other Middle Eastern countries including Qatar and Oman reports CNBC.
iOS devices sold in the UAE automatically have FaceTime disabled, however, other services such as Skype can be illegally used by subscribing to VPN services. – The unblocking of FaceTime in the United Arab Emirates would undoubtably make iPhone a popular choice for consumers, and please existing iPhone owners who can only access the service when out of their home country.
FaceTime
FaceTime was one of the flagship features launching with the iPhone 4 in 2010. Apple later expanded the service to include FaceTime Audio calls in 2013. – FaceTime has been blocked for users in the United Arab Emirates since 2016.
