Apple to remove 3D Touch from 6.1-inch LCD iPhone

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has claimed within a report published on Thursday that Apple will remove 3D Touch from its upcoming 6.1-inch LCD low-cost iPhone model set to debut alongside the updated iPhone X successor and “iPhone X Plus” in September.
The report notes that the new 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will use what Kuo calls “Cover Glass Sensor” (CGS) technology that will make the device lighter and more resistant to damage, however due to cost restrictions Apple will remove 3D Touch to keep the display as cheep to produce as possible.
Ming Chi Kuo has become the most accurate voices on Apple’s future product plans, and any report published by the analyst should be taken seriously, however; it does sound rather strange of Apple to choose to ditch 3D Touch considering how deeply it has been integrated into iOS.
The Apple Post reported earlier in the month that Apple’s rumored low-cost 6.1-inch LCD iPhone could be priced as low as $550, with analysts suggesting Apple could sell between 100 million and 120 million units of the handset between the third quarter of 2018 and the third quarter of 2019.
