Apple to open ‘several’ new Japanese stores over next 5 years
Apple has shared their “five year plan” for reinvesting in Japan within an interview with Nikkei, spotted by Mac Otakara on Thursday.
Speaking on behalf of the company, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail, Angela Ahrendts said over the next five years Apple will open ‘several’ new retail stores across Japan, and remodel their existing locations as part of an “extensive renovation” plan.
Within the interview, Ahrendts praised Apple’s rollout of its “town square” concept, turning retail locations into more than just stores.
Starting with Shinjuku, we will open several new stores, and existing stores will also undergo extensive renovation.
Apple has 501 stores across the world, and more are planned to open throughout the year. On April 7th Apple will open a new store in Tokyo’s retail district of Shinjuku.
