Amazon to acquire smart-home startup, Ring, with plans to keep HomeKit support
In a surprising move Amazon is set to acquire smart-home startup, Ring. The popular doorbell and security camera maker has already stated that they will remain dedicated to offering HomeKit support.
This move will bring Amazon even deeper into the smart-home ecosystem. Ring’s products are already compatible with Alexa, but it’s almost guaranteed that they will become even more integrated within the Amazon ecosystem.
HomeKit is definitely still in the works. As soon as testing is completed for the Ring Pro and Floodlight Cam, we'll partner with Apple to provide you with an updated release date.

A Ring spokesperson said that they’ll be able to achieve even more by partnering with an inventive, customer-centric company like Amazon and that: “We look forward to being a part of the Amazon team as we work toward our vision for safer neighborhoods.”
It will be quite interesting to see how well these devices continue to work with other competitor’s platforms.
