Apple Music expected to become larger than Spotify in the US this year
Apple Music is on the verge of overtaking Spotify in the United States, with analysts predicting that Apple will have more active paid-accounts using their music streaming service than Spotify by as early as this summer.
Although Apple Music may soon overtake Spotify in the United States, Spotify continues to dominate the music streaming industry across the world, with the service revealing that it had 70 million paying subscribers last month, making it nearly twice as large as Apple Music.

Apple’s subscriber-account base in the U.S. has been growing about 5% monthly, versus Spotify’s 2% clip, according to the people familiar with the numbers. Assuming those growth rates continue, Apple will overtake Spotify in accounts this summer.
