New low-cost 6.1-inch iPhone with LCD display expected to launch during 2018
Nikkei has published a new report that claims Apple is preparing a new low-cost 6.1-inch iPhone with LCD display for launch during 2018, featuring a metal back much like the iPhone 7 and the True Depth Camera System for Face ID from the iPhone X.
The report from Nikkei follows on from previous details shared by KGI Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who reported Apple is developing new L-shaped batteries for two new OLED iPhone models.
Citing a source “privy to the company’s product designs,” Nikkei says the LCD model will feature a 6.1-inch display, while the two OLED models which will form Apple’s premium iPhone line will measure in at 5.8 inches and either 6.2 or 6.3 inches.
The low-cost 6.1-inch iPhone with LCD display will apparently be available in a selection of metal back finishes unlike the iPhone X which is only available in Space Gray or Silver.
